Community Ophthalmology
The hospital is partially funded by Lions Trust of Bangalore West. The funding from the trust is for the infrastructure, maintenance and up gradation. Some part of the resource required for the hospital is generated from the paying section of the hospital. However, it invites and encourages donations towards various community services being offered at the hospital. The donations can be made under the following donation schemes:
Adult Eye Screening (LRIP):
In order to ensure better treatment to widely spread patients all over the state, B. W. Lions Super Speciality Eye Hospital conduct 3 free surgery camps every week where about 200 free cataract surgeries are performed. The hospital is providing its services to the poor cataract affected patients from rural areas and urban slums which are totally free and include to and fro transportation, accommodation, food, IOL surgery, medicines and protective glasses along with 2 follow-ups. These patients are provided with free nutritious and hygienic breakfast, lunch and dinner during their stay at the camp for 3 days, the feeding expenditure coming to approx. Rs. 5000/-. Till now more than 1 lakh cataract operations with lens implanting have been done in this ongoing programme.
Operating theatres for the camp patients, their staying facility are available and also subsidized OPD for poor patients.
