Topography Orbscan Pachymeter
A topography unit is a machine that takes a specialized photo of the cornea, the front transparent window of the eye. The resulting photo is a topographic map of the corneal surface, similar to satellite aerial color-coded maps of mountains and valleys on the planet earth.
This is a multidimensional diagnostic system that measures elevation and curvature on both the anterior and posterior surfaces of the Cornea. It captures full cornea pachymetry thickness and generates reproducible diagnostic maps essential for personal vision correction.
This map shows the bumps and valleys on the corneal surface and is used to ensure the cornea is regular and can be treated with the laser.

Hansatome (Micro Keratome)
The most advanced and proven, fully automated microkeratome which allows the surgeon to create a very thin and uniform flap of corneal tissue. This flap is then raised to expose the inner layers of the cornea to Laser treatment.
ZYOPTIX – A Customised Vision Solution
Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix is a thoroughly integrated system for personalized vision correction and consists of the Topography Orbscan Pachymeter which provides a three dimensional topographic map of the corneal surface and the Aberrometer which measures the aberrations (imperfections) present in the optical system of the untreated eye. It analyses the strong and weak spots of rear & front of cornea as well as irregularities.
These measurements are then entered into the Zylink programme to calculate the treatment file of each patient. This huge amount of vital information is transferred to Technolas 217z Laser. Technolas 217z then ablates and reshapes the cornea under the flap, to not only remove the refractive error (Long Sightedness / Astigmatism) but also eliminate the aberrations. The exact centration of the eye is achieved by using centring & tracing mechanisms.
